Chicago’s Willson Contreras and Jason Heyward of the Cubs and Yoan Moncada and Tim Anderson of the White Sox are hometown examples of players showing improvement and the ability to make adjustments to continue their path as big league stars. Anderson has slowly made steps to becoming the reliable shortstop with All-Star caliber offensive capabilities that the White Sox expected when he joined the club in 2016. The young switch hitter’s goal is to provide the White Sox with steady play and results that rate him as a five-tool player. During the offseason attempts to bring Manny Machado to the southside, it was Anderson who believed he would be the White Sox everyday shortstop whether the Sox signed or didn’t sign Machado. If he can accomplish a 30/30 season, it would be the first time a White Sox player reached those totals in the same year.
