The Abbasid Caliphate was the third in a series of Islamic Empires to span large parts of Africa and Asia. At its height, the Abbasid Caliphate controlled much of North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Afterward, a new Islamic Caliphate, the Abbasid Caliphate, was proclaimed.
