He was known to be one of the most ardent TPLF officials who dared to impose Tigray supremacism ideology in the country. He was captured in Tigray region where where was a war following attack on the Ethiopian Defense Force on November 4, 2020. It was a joint operation between the Ethiopian Defense Force and the Federal Police that led to his capture. He was captured along with deputy president of Tigray region, Dr. Abraham Tekesete, and seven other top TPLF officials. Last week, founder and ideologue of TPLF, Sebhat Nega, was captured along with eight other TPLF officials and brought to Addis Ababa.
