Prior to the premier one-day cricket tournament, a Twenty20 cricket tournament was held with only local players and Sheikh Jamal clinched the trophy of the first such tournament by winning the final on Monday. Another newly promoted side Uttara Sporting Club will play their first match in the inaugural day as they will face Twenty20 champion Sheikh Jamal, who finished third in last year’s DPL, at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah. Last year’s runners-up Legends of Rupganj will start their campaign in the same day as they will take on Brothers Union at BKSP-3 ground at Savar. The Gopibag-based side barely survived in the top flight as they finished over two relegated sides Agrani Bank Limited and Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the last season.
