AG Report2016: i-Kad red carded in report

In the Auditor General’s Report 2016 Series 2, it is revealed that between Dec 2016 and March 2017, there were failure to deliver the i-Kad, issues of late issuance and arrests of foreign workers despite holding a valid i-Kad. The contract issuance date of 100 chips-scanner machine and its date, was also signed seven months and nine days too late than the initial date. The issues were also not raised in meetings on the implementation and monitoring of the i-Kad, the report said. Lastly, the report recommended that the department increase monitoring of i-Kad delivery time to ensure that there was no delay in its issuance, as well as imposing penalty to contractor for any late issuance. The i-Kad is a colour-coded card issued according to work sectors, namely, agriculture (green), plantation (orange), construction (grey), services (yellow), manufacturing (red) and housemaids (brown).
