The response, signed by the Ministry’s Information Officer, Lydia Attoh, outlines the timeline of events surrounding the controversial case. In the statement, the ministry said the CID opened investigations into Akonta Mining in October 2022 after petitions were submitted by Ing Ken Ashigbey and lawyer Martin Kpebu, who raised concerns about alleged illegal mining activities within the Tano Nimiri Forest Reserve. However, the Attorney General’s office noted that it could not confirm exactly when the CID completed its investigations. “This office did not receive a docket in respect of Akonta Mining within the stipulated time frame,” citinewsroom.com quoted the minister as saying.
