more-inThe Airports Authority of India (AAI) provided teletherapy and brachatherapy units to the Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Speciality Hospital for cancer patients as part of its corporate social responsibility commitments. AAI signed an MoU with the hospital in this regard on Wednesday, according to a press release. Linear accelerators are used for targeted radiation therapy in cases of cancer, while brachytherapy is also a radiation therapy, which involves the placing of radioactive material inside the body for more specific areas. These units, worth ₹18.5 crore, will be installed in the Comprehensive Cancer Care of the hospital within 36 weeks. The equipment will be procured through through the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation in about six months.
