Mango lovers will be able to treat their taste buds with a variety of mangoes at the week-long Maavu Mela that was inaugurated here on Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner P. Sunil Kumar. Apart from mangoes, a variety of mango products, including juice, jam, pickles and chutney, are also on display and sale. Mr. Ukkund said that mangoes are on display and sale in 20 out of the 30 stalls. On the concluding day (May 14), a workshop will be organised for the benefit of farmers on improved techniques of mango cultivation. Mr. Ukkund has appealed to the people to visit the mela and purchase quality fruits as an encouragement to growers of mangoes.
