Then in January 2007, the late Steve Jobs, standing on a stage in San Francisco, introduced the first iPhone — it didn’t even have apps at the time. In 10 years, I’ve watched as ourglobal culture has committed to smartphones truly, madly, deeply. During the recent American political tumult, obsessive phone checking certainly became my norm. Sometimes it just feels easier to lie on the sofa idly checking my phone than it does to start a conversation. So happy 10th anniversary, darling iPhone.
