Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said on June 9 he plans to fire two officers who contributed to the death of Zachary Bearheels. (KETV)In the moments before Zachary N. Bearheels died, Omaha police officers shocked the handcuffed man with a stun gun 12 times in a matter of minutes. The Omaha World-Herald subsequently reported that Schmaderer wants to fire Payne, the officer who used the stun gun, and McClarty, the officer who punched and dragged Bearheels. He discharged the stun gun, striking him in the abdomen and right thigh. He condemned the officer’s repeated use of the stun gun and said he should have stopped after the third electric shock, when he realized the stun gun was not working on Bearheels.
