VANCOUVER—An otter has been sighted once again in a downtown Vancouver garden — and garden staff are bracing for a rematch of last fall’s koi vs. otter showdown. On Saturday, the Vancouver Park Board announced on Twitter that the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen garden pond had been closed due to new sightings of an otter. In November 2018, an otter snuck into the peaceful, walled garden in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown. Eluding all traps set by garden staff, the otter devoured 11 koi fish. The incident made international news as Vancouverites took to social media to declare their allegiances in the otter vs. koi debate.
