The families were evicted from Moolampilly, Mulavukad, Kothad, Cheranalloor, Vaduthala, Kalamassery, Eloor, Manjummal and Edappally. Out of the seven sites where rehabilitation plots were allocated, six were on filled land. As houses built on at least three such rehabilitation plots developing cracks and tilting sideways, more evictees remain doubtful over constructing houses using their hard-earned resources. There were more reasons why evictees were unable to move into rehabilitation plots. As their rehabilitation hung fire, 22 evictees died, either succumbing to diseases or committing suicide.
