To take that leap, one has to have a childlike perspective and not a childish perspective. A childlike perception is freeing oneself from that background and hence inwardly be free and from that freedom to see. So one’s struggle is to see the other fit into one’s image of one’s partner or of oneself. The struggle for seeing that one’s image is validated is not there and hence no pain. The ability to see something new is a product of one’s inner being, free from one’s past.
