A-Levels to 'go ahead with 3-week delay' this summer to help students 'catch-up'

The Department for Education last night said there may be a "short delay" to the exam timetable - but insisted they will go ahead. The government said plans were being drawn up recognising the "considerable disruption" students have endured in the past six months. Writing in the Times, Sir David Eastwood, from the University of Birmingham, and Sir Chris Husbands, from Sheffield Hallam University, argued that it would be "simply wrong" to make sixth form students sit exams rather than focusing on lessons. The plans will be debated as part of a motion to be put forward by the NEU at its online conference on Saturday.
