Almost a decade later, Test cricket – the sport’s most treasured format – has not returned to Pakistan, a cricket obsessed country of more than 200 million people. “Test cricket returning to Pakistan will not happen overnight,” new PCB chairman Ehsan Mani tells me. “India and Pakistan play each other in ICC tournaments and the women play each other but someone in India – I don’t know from where – has singled out that India shouldn’t play Pakistan in men's cricket,” he says. It is a rematch of the Champions Trophy final in the U.K. last year, where Pakistan stunned India to memorably claim the title. Just an added travesty for the weary Pakistan cricket team, who are yearning for a homecoming.
