Edith Fuller, 5, spells a word during the 2017 Scripps Green Country Regional Spelling Bee in Tulsa. The 5-year-old beat about 50 other contestants from across eastern Oklahoma at Saturday night’s regional competition, becoming the youngest person to ever qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, Scripps confirmed. The National Spelling Bee is open to contestants who haven’t passed the eighth grade, and there is no minimum age to compete.
