GEORGE TOWN: A Datuk Seri businessman who is under arrest by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been admitted to a private hospital here. It is learnt that the businessman was admitted to Island Hospital on Saturday after he started having insomnia and had difficulty adapting to conditions at the MACC lock-up. The Datuk Seri and his 47-year-old son, who has a Datuk title, were arrested by MACC on April 11 and remanded the next day over a land scandal involving a local foundation. According to MACC, their arrest was linked to the March 29 arrest of a 70-year-old Datuk, who was remanded pending investigation into alleged abuse of power while he was the head of a foundation here. The investigation of all those involved are being conducted under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
