Police conducted drives citing irregularities at the development projects near Matiyan Haor, and arrested individuals concerned on Tuesday. Police detained the PIC members after witnessing unsatisfactory progress at the projects near Matiyan Haor. Nandan Kanti Dhar, also a project monitoring committee member, said that the state minister for the water development board had also expressed disappointment after his recent visit to the Matiyan Haor project. The Water Development Board undertook dam construction projects worth Tk13 crore 41 lakh, to protect crops in Tahirpur upazila.
