Nairobi: At least seven people were killed in an airstrike on a children’s play area in the capital of Ethiopia’s northern Tigre region on Friday, medical officials said, following a four-month-old ceasefire this week. The Ethiopian government later urged Tigre residents to stay away from military facilities, saying it aimed to “take action targeting military forces”. According to witnesses, in January, a drone attack on a displaced people camp in Dedebit killed 56 people and injured 30, including children. War broke out in Tigre in November 2020 and spread to neighboring regions of Afar and Amhara a year earlier.
