Haven St, Moeraki, before it was restored to gravel last year. The Waitaki District Council has spent more than half a million dollars on Haven St in Moeraki over the past decade in an effort to address ongoing subsidence issues. However, since then the road has slumped as it has settled and its seal was forced to be ripped up in July after the council admitted it had sealed the road too early. The road is now being maintained as a gravel road, which the council will continue to do in the interim. Waitaki District Council assets group manager Neil Jorgensen said the council had invested heavily in Haven St since 2007.
