Crime & Punishment of Monday, 19 January 2026Source: classfmonline.comThe Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has disclosed that security agencies have arrested 53 Nigerian nationals following intelligence-led operations targeting suspected cybercrime centres in parts of the Greater Accra Region. According to the minister, intelligence gathered over the past 48 hours by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) revealed the existence of several cybercrime hubs operating within East Legon Hills, Afienya, Kwabenya, Weija, and Tuba. During the operations, 9 Nigerian nationals were arrested as suspects, while 44 others, also Nigerian nationals, believed to be victims of exploitation, were rescued. In total, 53 Nigerian nationals were arrested, distributed across the locations as follows: East Legon Hills (5), Afienya (11), Kwabenya (10), Weija (10), and Tuba (17). George stated that all arrested persons have been properly profiled and handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for safekeeping and further investigations.
