Photo : BSSRANGPUR, Feb 21, 2026 (BSS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police in a raid seized five maunds of fake ghee and arrested one person from ‘City Ghee’ factory in the city’s Damodarpur area on Saturday afternoon. He used to make fake ghee called ‘City Ghee’ using only Dalda, Palm Oil and Artificial Flavours without any dairy products. He had increased the production of fake ghee around Ramadan and upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival,” Sanaton Chakraborty said. They also recovered fake ghee, empty cans, sealing machines and other equipment used to produce fake ghee from his possession. It is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in the production and marketing of fake ghee,” Sanaton Chakraborty said.
