DAVAO CITY: Five fisherfolk from Sarangani Province were rescued in Davao Oriental after floating in the open sea for more than a day. The fisherfolk were identified as Yolando Gino, 55; Preceliano Cong, 31; Arnil Sulas, 28; Ronie Gino, 30 and Gilbert Castanares, 42. “Crising” made landfall in Davao Oriental in the evening of May 13. The fisherfolk were brought to Barangay Macambol in Mati City on May 16 but the incident was only reported to Macambol barangay (village) officials on May 18. The Mati City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately dispatched a team to Barangay Macambol for assessment.
