Five people died and nine others sustained serious injuries on Wednesday evening following a road accident in Makueni. Benjamin Onsongo, Makueni County police boss, said the matatu driver lost control of the car causing it to roll several times near Maseka bridge on the Wote-Makindu road. "The area where the accident occurred is not a black spot as alleged. The accident, involving a matatu, occurred at around 6pm. He is among those injured and is receiving treatment in hospital," Onsongo told the Star.
