Mohsin was serving as the principal of Sherpur Degree College and the editor of Saptahik Uttarbanga Bulletin during the 1971 Liberation War. Later, he joined Bogura Azizul Haque Degree College as the Bangla department head, after working at Naogaon Degree College as a teacher. He also played a pivotal role in establishing Bogra Law College, Shah Sultan College and Joypurha College. TMSS, a non-government organisation, has also introduced the “Shaheed Mohsin Ali Dewan Award” on journalism.
