Police have filed a number of cases against traffic offenders, including a senior police officer, for using the wrong lane in Dhaka’s Hare Road. Mehedi Hasan, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (traffic-south), said 44 cases were filed between 5pm and 7:30pm on Wednesday evening. Last week, a number of vehicles, including some used by several senior government officials, were fined for driving on the wrong lane. DMP filed 116,026 cases from July 2016 to June 2017 for using the wrong lane. In the last six months, 54,651 cases were filed – 930 were filed on last Monday and Tuesday.
