Crime & Punishment of Thursday, 15 January 2026Source: GNAGideon Doe Adifu, a 40-year-old fashion designer from Agbedrafor in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has been slapped with 15 years’ imprisonment for defiling and impregnating his biological 14-year-old daughter. A Sogakope Circuit Court presided over by Joseph Nadaado, sentenced Adifu to 10 years in hard labour for defilement and five years for incest, with both convictions to run concurrently. He said the convict’s wife, the complainant in the case, detected that their daughter was pregnant and upon interrogation, the victim confided in her and narrated her ordeal. Chief Inspector Doho further told the court that the convict, after his arrest, admitted his offense and pleaded guilty. The presiding judge, upon a careful examination of the case, sentenced Adifu on his own plea to the charges of defilement and incest.
