(Photo: Varuth Hirunyatheb)The Office of the Ombudsman is reviewing 40 complaints related to the Feb 8 general election and will determine whether any cases should be forwarded to the Constitutional Court, Chief Ombudsman Songsak Saicheua said on Wednesday. The complaints are under consideration, along with the responses submitted by the Election Commission (EC). Mr Songsak said it remains unclear whether the complaints will be submitted to the Constitutional Court individually or grouped together. Of the 40 complaints received, around 20 involve alleged violations of civil rights and freedoms, while more than 10 concern grievances suffered by voters. Meanwhile, Ombudsman Pol Gen Sarayut Sa-nganphokhai said the EC secretary-general has submitted an explanation regarding complaints about barcodes and QR codes printed on ballot papers.
