BATU PAHAT: The first phase of road upgrades along Jalan Mukim 6 Linau and Mukim 7 Tanjong Semberong opened to traffic after being plagued by problems for about half a year. During the official ceremony, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said he was relieved that the 4.2km stretch costing RM21mil had been completed. The road upgrades, he said, started on Sept 3, 2013, and was scheduled for completion on Aug 31 last year. This would, he said, complement existing industrial areas in Sri Gading and Batu Pahat. “Currently, Sri Gading and Batu Pahat are known for their textile and electronic industries and new investors want to develop a 3,000ha site into an industrial area,” he added.
