34 people hurt in LRT-2 train collisionBy The Manila TimesTHIRTY-four people were hurt in a collision of two coaches of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2), authorities said on Sunday. In a joint statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said 30 passengers and four LRT-2 personnel were injured in the accident, which happened between Cubao and Anonas stations in Quezon City on Saturday night. They said five of the victims were confined at the World Citi Medical Center and Quirino Memorial Medical Center. Despite the accident, both the DOTr and LRTA also stressed that the rail transport system remained a “safe mode of public transportation”. Operations of the LRT-2 are now back to normal.
