The 34 defendants that include Fekade Haile, former Manager of Addis Ababa Roads Authority, appeared at the second criminal bench of the Ethiopian federal high court for alleged embezzlement of over 2 billion Ethiopian birr (over 86 million U.S. dollars). The court has granted the police the requested 14 days additional time and adjourned the hearing for August 9, 2017. The 34 Ethiopian government senior government officials, businesspersons and brokers also included government officials the Addis Ababa Roads Authority and the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation. Foreign nationals were also brought to court as part of the alleged grand-scale corruption investigation that took place after a detailed inquiry.
