The Government has chartered 33 flights since mid-June to transfer people arriving in New Zealand between cities to complete managed isolation, a government official says. Some Air New Zealand air crew raised concerns with Stuff about the flights last week, warning the passengers who were being transferred would generally not have been tested for Covid-19. Despite that, crew assigned to the flights could be required to crew regular domestic scheduled flights immediately afterwards, without undergoing testing, they said. A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment said there had been 33 flights since June 15 to transfer returnees domestically to managed isolation and quarantine facilities from their point of arrival into the country.
