The arrestees, ASI Tabibur Rahman, 32, ASI Ranjan Kumar Moitri, 37, and Constable Tushar Sarker, 28, are officers from Bagachra Police Investigation Centre. Sharsha police station Sub-inspector Abul Hossain,who is also the plaintiff in the case, said: “On Sunday evening, the three police officials seized eight gold bars from illegal gold traders named Sajedur and Aktarul. With an intention of keeping the gold bars for themselves, they released the criminals. Upon investigation, they recovered the gold bars from ASI Tabibur Rahman’s possession.”The gold bars weigh around 86 bhori (about 1kg), which has a market price of Tk40 lakh.
