Colorectal cancer is on the rise among young Asian males. Though the incidence of the cancer is low in India — four in every one lakh persons — delayed reporting is a cause for concern, said Apollo Hospital’s colorectal and gastrointestinal surgeon, Venkatesh Munikrishnan. Men in the 40-45 age group are susceptible to this lifestyle-induced cancer and in 50% of cases, the disease is preventable. The Institute of Colorectal Surgery, in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, USA, University College, London, has organised a three-day meet in the city from Friday. Apollo Hospitals vice-chairperson Preetha Reddy said the hospital was committed to giving the kind of care poeple prefer.
