MANILA, Philippines —The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that there are 279 hotels and resorts in the Boracay Island that are now accredited and open to accept tourists and other visitors. As of Dec. 14, Almost 10,000 rooms had already been accredited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), DOT and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). ADVERTISEMENTAmong those allowed to operate, Fairways and Bluewater Resort and Savoy Hotel in Barangay Yapak had the highest number of available rooms with 700 and 559, respectively. Meanwhile, Paradise Garden Resort Hotel and Convention Center had the third highest number of available rooms with 463 rooms. The island’s cleanup stemmed from President Rodrigo Duterte’s concern on the island’s environmental and zoning problems.
