25 Sundarbans robbers of two gangs surrender


Twenty five members of Alif Bahini and Kabiraj Bahini, two infamous robber gangs of the Sundarbans, surrendered to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Saturday. A total of 19 robbers led by Alif Bahini chief Md Arif Mollah and six robbers led by Kabiraj Bahini chief Yusuf Ali along with 31 firearms and 1,110 rounds of bullets surrendered to RAB at Patuakhali Shilpakala Academy in the morning. On the other hand, Kabiraj Bahini chief Yusuf, 30, surrendered with his associates Md Nazim Sheikh, 38; Md Altab Uddin Fakir, 33; Md Nazim Sheikh, 38; Abu Sheikh, 46; Selim Hawlader, 30; and Md Ashraf Hossain alias Raju, 37. “The persons, linked to militancy and robbery, have no option but to face death if they do not surrender,” the minister warned. According to media reports, over 55 robbers of six gangs have surrendered to the law enforcers while six to seven others killed in alleged gunfights with the law enforcers since July last year.
