Like in past elections, candidates for the 2024 election, their supporters, and political parties are giving out branded items, including T-shirts, books, sachet water, bottled water, and so on. But there is a new trend where a wave of customised rice bags, a situation that could be termed as a new market for 'political rice brands,' has emerged, offering Ghanaians variety for what they can save up for the Christmas season. Some of the new rice brands that have popped up include the ‘24-Hour Rice’, which has the green colours of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). It is unclear if these rice brands are linked to political parties or simply from individual businesses hoping to capitalise on the season to make some profits.
