Trial of 216,398 drug-related cases are currently pending throughout the country. Some of these cases were filed decades ago, and some investigation officers have retired from service before the cases could be resolved. According to it, currently 216,398 drug-related cases are pending, and 46,114 of them were filed by the DNC. In his letter, Rakibur expressed his concerns: “If the pending drug-related cases are not resolved quickly, drug-related crimes will continue to increase in the future.”DNC Additional Director General Parimal Kumar Dev told the Dhaka Tribune: “We have contacted the concerned ministry, requesting them to handle drug-related cases through separate courts. “We firmly believe that a separate court will accelerate the trial of drug-related cases, and the criminals will face punishment,” he added.
