21 students suspected with COVID-19, 4 test positive during final exams at Ain Shams University

CAIRO – 14 July 2020: "A total of 21 students were suspected to be infected with COVID-19, while four were confirmed positive since the exams started," announced Vice President of Ain Shams University Abdel Fatah Saud. The four positive cases are being treated, and followed up daily at their homes, added Saud. He further said that the suspected cases are transferred to the Students Hospital in a designated and isolated place, and are scanned and tested to ensure whether they test positive or negative to the virus. “Positive cases will have their exams postponed until they are treated, while the negative cases will have the exam, during which they were suspected, be postponed until the next round,” he added. Ain Shams University raised a state of emergency as the final exams started per the decision issued by the Supreme Council of Universities to start holding second semester’s exams for senior students during July, as a prerequisite for graduation.
