So Davis is the obvious choice to be brought in when two well-trained gunmen massacre eight New York cops responding to a robbery. Enough said.’However, the all-too-familiar components of 21 Bridges’ plot allow any seasoned viewer of police and crime procedural fare to figure things out well in advance of Davis and his quarry. As a result, 21 Bridges succeeds way better than other recent "shades of grey" police thrillers like Sleepless and Den Of Thieves which, frankly, got a little too smug for my liking.
