203 Buddhists from Rakhine entered Bangladesh in last 5 days

Around 35 families, who were displaced due to fighting between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army in the Chin State, have entered Bangladesh to seek refuge. Locals and community leaders said the Myanmar nationals entered Bangladesh through the Remakree Prangsha border in the Ruma upazila on Tuesday after staying inside tents in the no-man’s land, along the Chaikkhong border since Saturday. The Myanmar nationals belong to Buddhist ethnic groups Khumi, Khyan and Bawm and Rakhine have taken shelter in temporary tents in bordering Cheihkayingpara and adjoining villages. Shamsul Alam, UNO of the Ruma upazila, said he was informed by local representatives about the intrusion of the Myanmar nationals. Meanwhile, security and patrolling has been increased in the Ruma-Myanmar border region due to recent influx of Myanmar nationals.
