MANILA, Philippines — While the mandatory disclosure of information of COVID-19 patients for enhanced contact-tracing is “justified,” two opposition senators underscored the need for safeguards to ensure that information will not be used for any other purpose. In a message to reporters on Monday, Senator Risa Hontiveros said clear guidelines should be established for the new policy of requiring COVID-19 patients to disclose their information for enhanced contact-tracing efforts. “But clear guidelines need to be established for IATF’s [Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases] policy. There is a need to narrow down the information needed for disclosure as specifically as possible,” she added. For more information on COVID-19, call the DOH Hotline: (02) 86517800 local 1149/1150.
