The deceased police constable was identified as Motaleb Mia, 55, resident of Basail upazila Tangail and worked in Kaliganj Police Station. The incident took place on 5pm Tuesday at Charsindhu bridge of Gazipur-Itakhola road in Kaliganj upazila. According to sources, a team of Kaliganj police station was conducting routine searches at a check post on Charsindhu Bridge. OC of Tongi West Police Station Emdadul Haque said the victim died trying to cross the road by leaping over a traffic divider.
