Two west-end homes were heavily damaged in a two-alarm fire overnight. Firefighters were called to a deck fire just after 2 a.m. on Beresford Avenue, which is north of Annette Street and just west of Runnymede Road. The fire spread quickly to an adjacent house. There were no injuries but both homes have extensive damage. Flames were already up the back of the house and into the roof by the time firefighters arrived.
