U.S.-backed Syrian rebels of the New Syrian Army train in an unknown location in Syria last month. In Aleppo, some 31 groups form the Aleppo Conquest coalition, including three main armed groups. Some of the armed Islamist groups In Aleppo and Idlib have carried out abductions, torture and summary executions in territory they hold. In Idlib, at least six armed groups make up the Army of Conquest coalition. A report released today by Amnesty International warns that other armed groups, some supported by Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the U.S., are also imposing a regime of repression on civilians.
