18-year-old B.C. Green Party candidate wants to make history as youngest MLA

Kate O'Connor envisions a greener future for B.C., and she's not going to wait for someone else to make it happen. Having just turned 18 years old, the Green Party candidate for Saanich South is the youngest candidate in provincial history. "Running a young candidate gets young people involved," she said. "There's this cycle where young people are criticized and blamed for not being involved in politics," O'Connor said. O'Connor began volunteering with the Green Party, most recently with leader Sonia Furstenau's campaign this past summer.
