17 more new cases today, health officials probe into transmission in public hospitals

Health authorities are probing into a possible transmission of the coronavirus in public hospitals after an elderly man was infected during his stay, as the city has seen 17 new cases today, and the total tally of local cases reaching 863. Earlier today, a spokesperson from Pok Oi Hospital said a 93-year-old stroke patient was hospitalized for nearly a month from March 10. Leading microbiologist professor Yuen Kwok-yung said the man had stayed in a ward near to another man who later tested positive with the virus. He was the fourth police officer infected with the virus since the outbreak. Among the 17 new cases, 10 had travel history, including seven students returning from overseas.
