16-year-old boy drowns in Lake Newell


A 16-year-old boy is dead after drowning in the waters of Lake Newell in southern Alberta. Emergency crews were called to Kinbrook Island Provincial Park around 3:44 p.m. on August 29 for reports of a boy floating on the water, according to a news release. RCMP said the boy initially appeared to be in distress before going under water. The family of the boy has been notified and police said no further information would be provided at this time.
