136th IPU assembly ends with Dhaka Declaration


The 136th assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) wrapped up in Dhaka on Wednesday with the Dhaka Declaration calling to end all inequalities around the world and stop outside interference in the internal matters of a sovereign state. Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury announced the conclusion of the five-day conference at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). During the conference, parliamentarians from around the world discussed ways to fight widening inequalities, violence and militancy as a global problem. This assembly is one of many steps that need to be taken to ensure that the well-being and dignity of all is respected,” said IPU President Saber Hossain Chowdhury. During the assembly, IPU President Saber Hossain Chowdhury condemned the chemical attack in the town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province, Syria.
