(Reuters)COVID-19 in Egypt: Panic among villagers due to attack of fruit bats CAIRO- 18 April 2020: Panic spread among the residents of Al Hazaneyah village in Shibin Al Qanater, Al Qalyubia Governorate [Egypt's Delta], after a group of fruit bats attacked the villagers amid the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COBDI-19) pandemic. هروب مواطن من عزل قرية الهياتم بالغربية شددت الأجهزة التنفيذية من إجراءات عزل قرية الهياتم بالغربية التي ظهرت فيها أكثر من حالة مصابة بكورونا ، و ذلك بعد أن تبين هروب أحد أهالى القرية من العزل و ذه...CAIRO – 27 April 2020: Authorities have put 13 families in Egypt’s Beni Suef governorate, south of the capital Cairo, under house quarantine, after coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were detected, the health affairs directorate said.The quarantined families in one of the governorate’s villages consist of 79 members.The directorate said it took the required precautionary measures to stop the spread of the novel virus in the village, including disinfecting houses and streets and testing contacts of infected people and checking their health condition.Ihsan Abu Zeid, a Social Solidarity Ministry top official, has ordered providing ready meals and bags of food to the quarantined families.In mid-April, Saft Trab village near Al Mahala Al Kubra City at the northern governorate of Gharbia has been quarantined for two weeks after 18 infections were identified and a woman died.Police have deployed patrols and armored vehicles to close the entrances of the village, and to ensure the isolation of dwellers at their houses.On April 9, authorities in a district in the northeastern Egyptian city of Port Said home quarantined the dwellers of two residential buildings, after two cases were found among them.In press remarks, Ahmed Qassem, head of Al-Dawahi district, said the entrances of the two buildings were closed by security forces and the residents were ordered to stay at home for 14 days, in order to avoid physical contact with others.On April 7, Moatamadeya village in Giza governorate was quarantined after nine infections had been identified.On April 1, El-Hayatem Village in Gharbia was quarantined after eight cases tested positive, including a worker who contacted more than 100 persons in the village.
